This is also the first “basic” iPad to support True Tone, Apple’s system for adjusting the screen’s color temperature based on the ambient light in your surroundings. Thankfully, Apple added an antireflective coating, something that previous iPad screens have been missing. As on previous iPads, the screen on this version has an oleophobic coating that resists fingerprints and makes wiping off skin oil and other grime easier, and the tablet is light enough for an adult to hold comfortably in one hand. Apple’s iPad Pro and iPad Air tablets have fancy borderless screens and face-scanning cameras, but the 9th-generation iPad looks like pretty much any other iPad released in the past seven years, as it offers a sharp, 10.2-inch touchscreen with relatively slim borders on the sides and relatively thick ones above and below, plus Apple’s Touch ID fingerprint scanner embedded below the screen.
